SDMT Pro
SDMT Pro is a software specifically designed for Flat Dilatometer (DMT) and Seismic Dilatometer (SDMT) test data to manage the following operations:
Field Measurements:
- DMT readings (A, B, C)
- DMT-A dissipation readings
- S-wave seismograms (real time Vs results during test execution if True Interval)
- P-wave seismograms (real time Vp results during test execution if True Interval)
Processing:
- DMT geotechnical parameters (Marchetti 1980 and other alternative formulae) – Stratigraphy, Compressibility, Strength, Stress History and Horizontal Stress
- Consolidation and Permeability coefficients from DMT-A dissipation data
- Shear wave velocity Vs (True Interval)
- Compression wave velocity Vp (True Interval)
Presentation of Results
- MS Word Report: optional introductive pages (test method descriptions, formulae, etc) and graphs of field and processed parameters
- MS Excel Sheets: numerical results
- Uni files for importing in geotechnical application software (ex. DMT Settlements)
DMT data using Medusa equipment must be imported in SDMT Pro from the output of a separate software used in the field. Integration of this software in SDMT Pro is currently in progress.
Real time (triaxial) inclinometer profiles provide the user with information on the potential danger of breaking the rods during penetration.
The graphs of test readings, intermediate parameters, geotechnical and geophysical parameters are plotted for single tests and also superimposed for all tests of the current project. Scales, absolute elevations, colours and other graphical options enable to customise the graphs that will included in the MS Word report. Templates are available to format the report pages with company logo and any type of header information. Other configuration options include page format (A4/Letter), graphic parameters (water depth, GPS coordinates, etc), input measure units, etc.

DMT Settlements
The DMT Settlements Software computes the one-dimensional conventional settlements calculation below uniformly loaded surface areas of flexible loads using the DMT results.
The software is designed to import from .UNI files the constrained modulus of the soil and the vertical effective stress from a DMT test. To perform a settlements calculation, the following input must be given:
- Loaded Area: defines the load in terms of weight and geometry. Currently only one isolated load area may be set, in future versions of this software also a multiple loaded area will be available.
- Soil Parameters: define the soil in terms of modulus and vertical effective stress.
- Calculation Options: define specific parameters and criteria used in the calculation.
- Vertical stress increments are evaluated according to the Boussinesq theory of elasticity for homogeneous elastic half space.
The software automatically generates a word document composed by three sections:
- Summary page with input and main results – a one page summary of the input data (load area, soil parameters and calculation options) and of the main results (total settlement below each calculation point).
- Graphs – the word report contains a graph for each calculation point item that is checked in the template.
- Tables – a section containing the settlement calculation results.
