Check out the highlights from the Australian Geomechanics Society NSW Insitu Testing Practical Workshop – 7 May 2024!
The AGS NSW Insitu Testing Practical Workshop was a hands-on event where attendees tried various insitu testing techniques to evaluate material conditions, such as static Plate Load Test (PLT), Light Weight Deflectometers (LWDs), Trailer Mounted Falling Weight Deflectometer (FWD); penetration tests including Cone Penetration Testing (CPT), Dynamic Probing Super Heavy (DPSH), PANDA variable energy Probe, Automated Dynamic Cone Penetrometer (DCP) and the commonly used DCP; and geophysics including, Multi-channel Analysis of Surface Waves (MASW) and Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR).
Held at Bayview Golf Club, the workshop offered full-scale demonstrations and was a great opportunity for both early career professionals and seasoned practitioners to engage, offering both learning and networking opportunities in a well-catered setting. Special thanks to Dr. David Lacey of FSG Geotechnics & Foundations and Robin Power of Insitutek for sharing their extensive knowledge, and to our Sponsors, GeoSmart Solutions, Ground Test, KMK Geotechnics Pty Ltd, Macquarie Geotechnical, and Pavement Management Services for their generous support.
